Meet Mercy Mbabazi — a talented student whose curiosity, creativity, and perseverance have shaped an incredible academic journey.
✅ How did your experience at CIC differ from studying Grade 12 in your home country?
For grade 11 courses, I took English, Challenge and Change in Society and Communications Technology. For grade 12 courses, I took Marketing, two art courses and Communications Technology again. These specific subjects did not exist in my home country, so it was a nice feeling to experience a whole different world in academics. Plus, here, I am a straight A student and I get recognition for my hard work.
✅ What strategies did you use to manage academic workload, deadlines, and exams?
I would have to say that I took a lot of time thinking over my assignments, mostly gathering up information in my head and then last minute, submitting work which in hindsight is not the best way to achieve something. However, it worked and that’s what brought me here today. I managed a lot of the work by referencing from online works and then planning. I would use my weekends to work on my homework and meeting deadlines meant I would have to plan early.
✅ How did living in residence help you adjust to life at CIC?
Residence rules also gave me discipline and smarter ways of navigating my way through school. Being there, I had to kind of follow people around to know where is what and what to do and sometimes I would ask the staff and they would be so nice to me.
Congratulations, Mercy!
