Classes ended early yesterday to allow all students the opportunity to experience in one of the most popular events of the school year, Games Day.
With the school’s back field transformed into a mini-fair, students lined up to participate in the unique and exciting games and activities. The cloudy sky and intermittent rain did not deter many students as they were eager to spend their afternoon outside and join all the action. They had many activities to choose from that test both their mental and physical strength.
Activities were managed and supervised by members of Student Development and student leaders (Athletic Prefects, School Prefects, Student Council and Residence Council) who were seen cheering on and their peers.
Fair Play The games selected were based on key principles Columbia strives to teach its students inside and outside of the classroom; fair play; teamwork; inclusiveness; perseverance; and peaceful and positive conflict resolution. Along with fostering school spirit, the games were a great place for students to put character into action by demonstrating their understanding of the school’s key character values.
Thank you to the Student Development department, student leaders and staff who organized this year’s Games Day.
