March break is a welcomed winter vacation for many students the country, allowing them to rest and regroup before they begin to prepare for the end of the term.

A small group of Columbia students had a unique break as they spent part of their March Break enjoying the great outdoors at Bark Lake Leadership Centre!

From March 14 to 17 about 40 Columbia students took pleasure in the serene and natural landscape of one Canada’s premier leadership centres. Those who attended the four-day Winter Camp engaged in a number of fun team building activities which helped develop students’ communication and problem solving skills.

Among the great activities were: • High ropes • Rock climbing • Floor hockey • Snowman building • Cross-country skiing • Snowshoeing • Animal tracking • Stargazing • Campfire building • Mask making • Adventure races

Thank you to the Bark Lake staff, Mr. Freddy, and Student Development for their involvement in organizing Winter Camp.

Leadership at Bark Lake Columbia partners with Bark Lake throughout the year to offer leadership retreats to its students as part of its leadership and character education programs. Winter Camp is one of the many opportunities students have to visit the centre. Additional information on Bark Lake can be found by visiting their website.
