Columbia raises funds for McMaster Children’s Hospital

Cheque presentation to MCH Serving the community is one of the many priorities of Columbia’s student body. Throughout the year, students participate in numerous fundraising initiatives and learn about the diverse needs of the Hamilton community.

The McMaster Children’s Hospital is one of the many local organizations Columbia students support. Each year students and staff participate in a Walk-a-thon to raises funds and awareness for the organization. This year, Columbia students and staff set a new record by raising a total of $11,040.95, for the Hospital.

Last week, members of Columbia’s staff –Mr. Tim Putt, Head of Senior School and Ms. Sherry Thompson, Administrative Assistant to the Principal- met with Hospital staff to present the donation. Hospital staff were thrilled to accept the donation and thanked the Columbia community for their continued support in making a difference in the lives of children.

Mac Kids Miracle Weekend Columbia presented the donation during the Mac Kids Miracle Weekend – a weekend dedicated to collecting donations to support the “the costs to upgrade and purchase new medical equipment and fund programs that improve the lives of children across this region.”

Columbia students also participated in the weekend events, volunteering at the Walk & Wheels for Miracles at Hamilton’s Pier 4 Park on May 31.

Thank you to all students and staff who participated in the Walk-a-thon and Walk & Wheels event.
