Math contest winners with awards

Two Columbia students were recently recognized for achieving top scores in the University of Waterloo’s PASCAL and EUCLID math contests.

Alexandr Kim achieved the highest score in CIC for the Grade 9 PASCAL math contest and Zhi Wang achieved the top score out of 138 participants CIC for the Grade 12 EUCLID Math contest. Both students placed within the top 25% of all students globally who wrote the contest. Approximately 16,000 students from over 1300 schools wrote the EUCLID math contest.

We are also proud that Columbia was named Zone Team Champions having outscored all schools competing in the local region.

Kim and Wang were presented with their Certificate of Distinction and Contest Medals yesterday afternoon by Principal Ron Rambarran, and Lead Math Teacher Tim Luymes. Congratulations to all those who participated!
