OSSLT parent guide

Students across Ontario are preparing to write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), scheduled for March 26.

The OSSLT will measure students’ reading and writing skills by testing their ability to understand, interpret, and apply the diverse concepts and material. As a provincial initiative administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office –EQAO-, the Test promotes lifelong learning by developing skills that are needed for success. All students who study in Ontario must successfully write the test in order to obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Columbia students have already begun preparing for the test by participating in weekly literacy days and attending a series of workshops and information sessions.

Parents wishing to learn more about the test can download an information guide, available in 21 languages here. They can also contact their child’s liaison officer or guidance counsellor.
